Hypoallergenic Feline Breeds

1. Siberian Cat

The Siberian cat originated in Russia around the 1980's. Another name they go by is the Moscow Semi-Longhair. Siberian's produce less Fel d1 protein allergens than other breeds. They are agile jumpers who are strong and large, with a full tail. The color varieties they are born with are tabby, solid, colorpoint and tortoiseshell. A Siberian cat is able to give birth to kittens as young as five months old while other breeds aren't able to reproduce that young. The litters average between five to six kittens, which is two more kittens than other breeds would normally have.

2. Balinese Cat

The Balinese cat originated in the United States in the 1920's. People originally called them Long Haired Siamese cats because Siamese cats would reproduce one Balinese out of the whole litter. There are two different types of Balinese cats. Both types are slender, with long legs and tails. Their eyes are almond shaped and the ears are pointed. The top picture is the old-style lilac point and the bottom picture is the modern blue lynx point Javanese. Balinese cats have medium length fur. They are either cream or white colored. They also create less amounts of the Fel d1 and Fel d4 protein allergens which make them very good pets for people with allergies.
